Why are there so many streets, buildings, and infrastructures with the name Raiffeisen?

Many buildings and other infrastructures are named Raiffeisen due to the great works of a man name Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen. Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen was a son of local famers and the mayor of villages in the German Westerwald Province.  He is credited with creating the foundational principles and banking structure that the Raiffeisen Bank Group is known for.  His first initiatives in helping local famers included charities with a foundation of Christian principles, however, Raiffeisen felt that his charities were helping the local farmers as much as he had hoped. In 1862, He then created several societies and credit unions that distributed credits and loans to farmers in need.  They will receive enough to invest and stay afloat during economic distress, and work enough to pay off the credit and be able to continue to support their family.  His philosophy and bank structure is now spread all over Europe with his namesake.  To learn more about Friedrich Raiffeisen read his history article on our site.
